In principle, an assembly in the open air must be notified to the assembly authority at least 48 hours before the invitation to the assembly in accordance with Section 10 of the NRW Assembly Act.

Assemblies can be held, for example, in the form of:

  • Vigils: A peaceful, silent demonstration to draw attention to a situation perceived as a social grievance.
  • Processions: Are moving assemblies. This includes the "classic" demonstration, which covers a predetermined route.
  • Rallies: A gathering of at least two people for a collective discussion aimed at participating in the formation of public opinion

The Unna assembly authority will advise you as the organizer on the details of the assembly. In the event of ambiguities or more extensive planning requirements, a cooperation meeting is offered in which ambiguities can be clarified together and any problems solved.

Further information on assembly law can be found HERE on the NRW police website.
